Greetings to all families of Balintawak Arnis Self Defense around the globe. First and foremost, let me congratulate you all how the Lord prospered and flourished you in abundance. Now you are reaping it what you have sown. Allow me to share this with you in behalf of my dad, Atty. Jose V. Villasin’s own story, how he got his icon name, “Balintawak Villasin Style”. The history is quite long and I am trying to condense this as much as possible as I can, Mr. Teofilo Velez introduced my dad to Mr. Anciong Bacon, after he got out of prison, Mr. Bacon learned the skill while he was inside the cell. Eventually, these 3 original Grandmasters became so close and faithfully practiced arnis every morning at our residence. Mr. Bacon slowly died down until he died in the early 1970’s. His teachings were basic and remained the founder of Balintawak Arnis Martial Arts. He passion and formed a new group together with the Villasin Brothers and Ver our cousin, Velez Brothers, Nilo Servilla, and Erning Doltera.
In 1974, Dad, started to write a book about arnis in his own version because he had a vision. Due to series of his immense responsibilities both his work and family Dad did not remember it anymore until he passed away in 1988. What does it really mean when you say Balintawak Villasin Style? It talks about 1- The 5 Groupings (Offense and Defense); 2- Arnis with a combination of Boxing; and 3- Arnis & Judo, that involves upper and lower cut, slapping in the face, feet and arm lock. there are just but a few to mention. I am not talking about this as an expert, I only testify how my Dad put his heart out into it and prayerfully worked at it. There are still many witnesses who can attest to what I am saying who remain faithful to the Villasin Family. God bless you all and thank you for taking time to read this.
Balintawak with a Villasin Style is an emblem of Dad’s intellectual property, and brought change in style and improvements in arnis. Our youngest brother, Grandmaster John is now with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ entrusted his caliber (second only to our Dad) and knowledge to his faithful friend Carlo Veloso Campaña, who is also starting to rise following their footsteps who went before him who bravely fought to make their own name, they are unstoppable and you see them on Facebook. I cheer to all arnis eskrimadors bearing Filipinos ingenuity soaring high.
In behalf of my dad who cannot defend himself where and how he started his own. Though Teeling and John tried to save and expressed our side. Teeling is our youngest and did not know the whole picture of it. I have read Mr. Cordero`s as well and kindly read it because it`s true diin sila gikan mao ra na iya gisulti.
Hinumdomi gyud ang gi tudlo nimo ni John kay makabasa ba gani ang uban unya nagdala ka ana amo name daghan mo challenge ug practice lang gyud kay pangitaon kana kay curious nimo. Ikaw na be praying for your success.
